Competition in the gas and electricity market has been in force for over 15 years however the water industry remains an uncompetitive market whereby a consumer has no choice over who supplies their clean water and who deals with waste water.

Gas and electricity is an open market allowing a consumer to switch supplier for cheaper rates relatively easy. No such thing is available for clean and waste water. Consumers are stuck with the supplier for their region and cannot influence the price they pay.
