Rejected petition Lift the ban on using footage of Parliament in satirical programmes
Footage from Parliament can be used in news and factual programmes but cannot be used by comedy or satirical programmes. No other part of society is protected from satire in this way. Parliament should lift this ban and be subject to comedy and satire just like every other aspect of society.
More details
The proceedings of Parliament have been televised since 1989. Rules on televising Parliament (https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/44912/response/114522/attach/2/Televising%20Parliament%20Aug%202008.pdf) state that "no extracts from Parliamentary proceedings may be used in comedy shows or other light entertainment such as political satire."
