Rejected petition Rescind these discriminatory anti smoking laws or give us our money back!

More details

For 2010/2011 the excise and VAT on smoking comes to £11.1 billion
Same year total expenditure on the NHS £90 billion
Total cost of treating smokers in the UK for 2009 - £5 billion

UK Smokers = 21% of population 61,393,000 (Estimate 2009) meaning 12.9 million

UK non-smokers 48.5 million contributing ZERO to the above other than normal tax
UK Smokers 12.9 million contributing £11.1 billion in addition to normal tax or
£6.1 billion MORE than we cost!

This means that each UK smoker contributes roughly £473 ABOVE the costs of treating UK smokers each and every year. This is also in addition to the normal taxes that we pay along with the non-smokers.

For that kind of money each UK smoker could contribute to the tax pot as normal and have more than enough money for BUPA health care each and every year.
Rescind these discriminatory anti smoking laws or give us our money back!
