Rejected petition End GW Pharmaceuticals' monopoly on cannabis/cannabis based medicines in the UK.
GW prices/far above what is reasonable. It allocates inefficiency and decline in consumer welfare.Little incentive to offer good quality service. May exploit monopsony buying power;use of dominant market position to squeeze profit margins. Doesn't promote competition Abuse of monopoly power.
More details
60% of preparations in chemist shops before prohibition were cannabis based. GW Pharma does not monitor patients on Sativex, as there is little chance of adverse reaction/dependency.Side effects are minimal. In legal US states, similar products are sold at a fraction of the cost of Sativex,in dispensaries,or can easily be made at home.Regulation of testing laboratories is imperative.NO MORE SKUNK.Regulate cannabis and end the GW Pharmacy's monopoly on medical cannabis. We are not going away.
