Rejected petition Please regulate Letting agency fees in England and stop the loot of tenants.

Letting agency fees in England are totally unregulated. However, in Scotland they’ve been completely banned since 2012! Letting agencies charge atrocious amount as admin, referncing and any other activity. Agency fee ranges from 50% to 150% of one month rent!

Each letting agents decides what to charge for and how much. Tenants have to pay to secure a property, get credit check done and even to change the name on a piece of paper! Tenants are charged an inflated fee for a credit check, which actually costs as little as a tenner.

Citizens want Government to start with banning these unfair letting agency fees and regulate them.
