Rejected petition Amend the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act so that a General Election may be called.
Rejected on
The Governments response to a recent online petition calling for a general election was “the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act means no Government can call an early general election any more”
While prevision exists in the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act to call a new general election. There is no prevision to allow the people of the nation to call for a General Election only the current government.
Therefore we call for amendments to the law to be passed so that the people have the power to remove the government.
