More details

Can gypsies and travellers occupy any seemingly vacant land?
No, as mentioned above, they cannot simply occupy land because it is vacant,

Gypsies or travellers should contact the local authority in the area in which they wish to camp to find out whether there is any space for them on a permanent, or temporary site.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

If you would like the law to be changed, to make it illegal to set up camp on public or private land without permission, you could start a petition about that.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
