When holiday companies, airlines and business generally go into administration, not all consumers are immediately covered.
In the case of holiday companies going bust each year, those who didnt book on a credit card, or choose an 'ABTA' registered firm will usually lose every penny. For the latter it could take months to recoup compensation (mean-while losing a well-earned holiday).
Why cant banks be forced to protect their debit card customers as they do their credit card customers?
