Individuals who turn 18 before the end of the academic should be able to vote. As a young person interested in politics born in August, I am extremely disappointed I am unable to vote in the upcoming elections. I am the same maturity as my fellow peers, and I am affected by the outcome equally.

One example I find uncomfortable, is a close peer of mine turns 18 the day after the EU referendum and yet is unable to vote in a decision which is potentially life altering.
