Rejected petition Save BBC Food from cuts to maintain access to recipes that promote healthy diet

BBC Food and its 11000 recipes are to be cut from the BBC's online offering, the site provides free access to quality recipes that suit any budget, occasion and diet. BBC Food provides inspiration to those that lack confidence in the kitchen and is vital resource to promote healthy attitudes to food

More details

As a student I used BBC Food to learn how to cook on a budget, from there I gained more confidence and tried new things. It has become first place to visit when needing a new recipe. I cannot help but feel that if it were not for the BBC my diet would not be as varied as it is today. It has promoted a healthier attitude to food which is vital for a healthy population. BBC Food is a public service and should remain that way.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This decision is the responsibility of the BBC. The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.

You could start a petition calling on the Government not to make cuts to the BBC's funding.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
