Rejected petition Abolish all tolls/charges for use of the Dartford Bridge/Tunnel facilities.
The Dartford Bridge toll charge was to be abolished once it had been paid for. This has now been withdrawn, despite the Bridge being paid for many times over.
More details
Government are creating overly vexatious fines (£37.50/£72) per journey for use of the Bridge and this can result in someone who has innocently forgot to pay a weeks worth of tolls (even if they are willing to pay them once they get a reminder) anything up to £600. Additionally, if they are driving a hire car, the hire companies are extorting anything up to the same amount as admin fees. This can result in £1200 in fine for a bit of absent-mindedness.
