Mary Seacole was a Jamaican and Scottish born woman (1805-1881). Mary Seacole was refused on applying to the War Office to assist in the Crimean war. Whilst, Florence Nightingale was provided financial support as well as nurses to provide care to soldiers. Mary Seacole bravely funded her own travel
