This petition was submitted during the 2015-2017 parliament
Rejected petition Permit people who voted to leave the EU to withdraw their vote.
The referendum is advisory, and is not legally binding. The government must be permitted to make decisions based on accurate data. Those who regret their vote should be permitted to rescind it.
More details
There are already reports of "leave" voters who are surprised, who thought that "remain" would succeed, and are regretting their vote. For example:
"I'm shocked & worried. I voted Leave but didn't think my vote would count - I never thought it would actually happen."
The referendum is advisory, and not legally binding. The government should not be pressured into action if there is a risk of high levels of imprudent voting.
