Rejected petition Amend e-petitions to actually be useful to the majority

More details

Currently this site is designed and run incorrectly. If a petition reaches 100,000 signatures it is debated in the House of Commons. This means that once again we are pandering our politics to minorities rather than to the majority.

E-petitions should forthwith be amended so that a majority of 100,000 signatures is required and people can vote "No" to an e-petition as well as being in favour of it.

Only if a clear 100,000 people vote yes after "No" votes are deducted should it be debated. Otherwise we are opening the floor to debate issues that only 100,001 members of the population are in favour of.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
