Rejected petition Hold a General Election following the UK's decision to leave the European Union.

Following the UK's referendum to leave the European Union and the resignation of the Prime Minister, it is essential that Parliament revoke the Fixed-term Parliaments Act (2011) and hold a General Election at the earliest possible opportunity to give a mandate to the terms of negotiation and exit.

As David Cameron has resigned, and with no clear exit strategy proposed by the Leave campaign, each political party should be given the chance to gain a mandate from the electorate regarding the UK's negotiated exit and the establishment of subsequent trade deals with the EU. There is also a democratic responsibility to give the people a voice concerning who will be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at the earliest opportunity.
