As the number of people eligable for free prescriptions increase yearly, also people are living longer & designer drugs are proving very expensive, the prospect of fully funding free medical treatment for a lifetime is putting great strains on the Treasury.
It is proposed that the Government impose a minimum charge of £1 per prescription sheet, the monies raised to go to the NHS general budget.
