Rejected petition Lower the voting age so that 16/17 year olds have a voice

To create a true democracy that reflects the whole population, the voting age should be lowered to allow a voice for young people and to secure their future. In light of the recent EU referendum, it's become apparent that young people are becoming more educated and involved in politics....

More details

...Young people are the future of this country and therefore deserve a say in what happens to it. At aged 16 young people are in education, something that they go through for up to 13 years and have no say on. At 16 you can get married, legally have sex (therefore have children), move out, recieve medication without parental consent - and more. In a modern day Britain, young people therefore deserve to speak out on how a country they allready have adult responsibilities in, they deserve a vote.
