The legal status of UK referendum is advisory. The four freedoms set out in the Lisbon Treaty and Charter of Fundamental Rights are legally binding. The right to live, work and retire in another EU country are fundamental rights & cannot be reversed on a non-legal basis

THE rights conferred in the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the Lisbon Treaty are legally enshrined. These include the four freedoms. The suppression of these legal rights conferred to EU citizens on the basis of a referendum with non legally-binding status should be illegal. Nation states can withdraw from the Treaty but the rights conferred to individuals should not be withdrawn without a proper legal basis.
