This petition was submitted during the 2015 to 2017 Parliament
Rejected petition Judicial review of the EU Referendum given the misleading 'Leave' campaign.
Rejected on
'Leave' called 'Take Back Control' which had a very major impact on the Referendum vote.
The slogan is misleading and dishonest.
International agreements constrain us; multinationals ignore borders.
Any nation state has less power in a globalised world than an alliance like the EU has.
1 The UK Parliament has had the power at any time to vote to leave the EU; it did not need a referendum.
2 NATO rules can require us to go to war, regardless of Parliament.
3 Asylum is granted under international conventions.
4 Climate change, biodiversity, population growth and armed conflict are problems that can only be tacked at a super-national level.
5 UK alone will have less influence on internet giants and other multi-nationals than the EU has.
Taking back control is illusion and fraud.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Judicial review is a type of court proceeding in which a judge reviews the lawfulness of a decision or action made by a public body.
The Leave and Remain campaigns are not public bodies. It is therefore not clear how their actions could be subject to judicial review.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
