This petition was submitted during the 2015-2017 parliament
Rejected petition Legislate for press neutrality during election and referenda campaigns.
As far as possible the media should stick to facts in political reports, and when they do have an opinion piece ( as is their right for a free press) they should always carry one on the opposite side of an argument.
More details
In the referendum campaign only the "I" newspaper, and to some degree the "Times" were properly neutral, as stated by the press council.
Many people feel they had to decide how to vote without the possession of the factual evidence or a full impartial assessment of the arguments of the two camps.
