Following the EU Referendum, this petition urges the UK Government not to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty but instead to negotiate improved terms for the UK within the EU that will be acceptable to a majority of the UK voting population.

The result of the EU Referendum is advisory. The UK Government does not necessarily have to act on it. In order to formally leave the EU, the UK Government must invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. This petition urges the UK Government not to invoke Article 50 but instead to seek to negotiate a position for the UK within the EU which is acceptable to a majority of the UK voting population.
