Rejected petition Respect the views of 73% of 18-24 year-old voters in the Brexit settlement.
We call on the government to recognise that approximately 73% of 18-24 year-olds voted in favour of retaining EU membership [1]. The outcome of the referendum must be respected, but we ask the government to negotiate a safeguard which protects the relationship between young people and the EU.
More details
Young people voted overwhelmingly in support of the EU, but they will have to live with the decision to leave for longer than the average voter. The government must protect rights and freedoms, such as that to live and work in 27 countries, which have been taken from young voters against their wishes.
