Sentencing must be consistent and appropriate. At present we are far too lenient on wrong-doers, which does not send an appropriate message to others (acting as a deterent) nor does it penalise wrong-doers appropriately.
We then maintain a society that almost accepts crime.
The debate must cover all aspects of wrong -doing from driving offences to murder.
