Sunderland has been trying to create a new river crossing for at least 40 years, it is needed to revitalise the riverside where traditional industries are long since gone, to revitalise jobs and communities and to help with the transpot system into Sunderland city centre itself. For to long these projects have been planned then funding rejected, now is the time for action, for a Sunderland that will have been a city for 20 years next year, what better way to celebrate the queens diamond jubilee than to finally start work on this long overdue bridge.
