Rejected petition Lower the cost of public train transport in Wales and the rest of the UK.

The cost of trains is much too high. Children as young as 15 are being considered as 'adults' (when an adult is 18+) and charged extortionate prices for travel to and from jobs and leisure. These high prices are discouraging young people to commute to work and discourage commuters in general.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The price of train tickets is the responsibility of train operating companies.

While the UK Government and Parliament do not directly set the price of train tickets, the Government can set the rate by which train operating companies can raise ticket prices. You could start a new petition calling on the Government to alter this rate, or for other changes to the way in which train fares are set.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
