Petition Vote registration system to validate UK citizenship prior to issuing ballot card

Many people unelligable to vote because they are not UK citizens are illegally registering to vote in UK ballots because there are insufficient background checks on nationality. In particular this was highlighted in the EU referendum, where non-UK citizens were voting to remain.

Background checks on citizenship must be applied prior to registration acceptance to prevent electoral fraud.

Where people do commit fraud in elections there needs to be a mechanism for criminal prosecution, rigorously followed through by the police and courts.
