Rejected petition Require a referendum to accept the Brexit Settlement before enacting Article 50

During the Referendum Campaign, key figures on the Vote Leave side made a number of promises about what could happen if we left the European Union. In a number of instances, these statements were put across in a way that could be viewed as highly misleading, suggesting they were firm commitments.

More details

If any of these objectives are not achieved in full prior to the proposed date on which the UK is scheduled to leave the EU, a further referendum must be held in order to get the final agreement of the people of the UK to leave. Failure to achieve a majority in the referendum to approve the final deal will require the suspension of the enactment of Article 50 and the continued membership of the European Union.
