The referendum result is only advisory and has no legal basis without ratification from Parliament. Such ratification would satisfy the constitutional requirements specified in Article 50.

Given that the result was so closely contested, it is in the best interests of the people of the United Kingdom to hold a Parliamentary debate and vote on this matter to establish whether or not Article 50 should be invoked.
