Rejected petition Uphold the rights of 1.2 million British citizens to remain living in the EU

Over 1.2 million Britons currently live and work in the European Union. In light of the Brexit vote, the rights of these citizens to remain living and working within the EU are in jeopardy. The U.K. Government must defend and uphold the rights of these citizens during any exit negotiations.

More details

Britons have for more than four decades enjoyed the right of free movement within the European Union.

We have enjoyed the same rights and access to housing, healthcare, social security and the labour market as the citizens of the countries in which we reside.

The Brexit vote has raised serious concerns that, during any negotiation on Britain's future relationship with the EU, these rights may be withdrawn or eroded.

The UK government must ensure any deal upholds the rights of these citizens.
