No-one should have to sell their home to pay for nursing care, and there should be a campaign to promote awareness of how this situation can be avoided.
Having to sell ones home puts immeasurable and enduring mental stress on an elderly person who has worked and saved all their life, only to realise that all their assets including their home will have to be used to pay for nursing care until the proceeds are all but depleted.
This situation can be avoided if action to transfer ones assets is taken 7 years or more in advance of the need for nursing care, but the government currently does not widely publicise this solution.
