Rejected petition BBC Licence - It should be the consumers choice

Now television is in the digital age with so many TV channels to hand the consumer should not be be forced to pay for channels which are in excess of their needs. I feel that the BBC is guilty of consumerism and would like BBC licence to be an option rather than compulsory
