Marine piracy in the Indian Ocean is on the increase and is spreading due to ineffective action by the international community. Between 500 and 1000 seafarers of all nationalities are being held captive in appalling conditions, and piracy blights international transport. This petition asks the UK government to take the necessary military and diplomatic steps in a coalition of regional and international partners to remove this scourge of the free seas.
