Closed petition Do not open a UK trade hub in any state that discriminates against LGBT+ people

Closed on

The Department for International Trade, led by Dr Liam Fox who has the worst LGBT+ voting record of any cabinet member, intends to open a UK trade hub in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is despite the fact that the state's HB2 permits businesses to directly discriminate against the LGBT+ community.

HMG should join Paypal, HP, Deutsche Bank and others in refusing to support North Carolina until HB2 is repealed.

The DfIT has a duty not to send its LGBT+ staff, contractors and their families to states which treat them as second class citizens in a climate of fear and prejudice.

HMG has a duty to the global LGBT+ community to send a clear signal, even to our allies, that this discrimination is totally unacceptable. HMG must stand up for those struggling against injustice everywhere.
