Amend legislation from monthly vehicle tax to weekly. If a new car is bought privately that car will be taxed, and so will the buyers,neither transferable,but the purchased car will need re-taxed, in effect the DVLA are claiming three ( 3 ) times the duty on each car sold under these conditions.

Currently if a car is legally taxed and driven on a road when it is written off or changed, the tax is cancelled, but duty paid for that month,a new car bought privately will be taxed also, but not transferable under current legislation.In effect the DVLA are penalizing motorists by raking in three ( 3 ) times the duty on each car sold under these conditions.Charging VEL on a weekly basis would be fairer, and as most transactions are made through the DVLA website it should be easy to change.
