Rejected petition Excessive Drinking: Penalty Fine for Costs Incurred to Emergency Services
More details
On a typical weekend night, A&E departments across the country are inundated with casualties who have consumed too much alcohol.
This is a major cost to the emergency services, whose time and money could be better spent elsewhere.
It is unfair to expect the tax payer to pay for these individuals who think it is acceptable to drink to excess and leave it to the NHS to pick up the bill for their irresponsible actions.
In order to recuperate the costs incurred though irresponsible drinking, individuals who cost the emergency services time and money through excessive drinking, should be fined.
