Petition Facilitate access and use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's)
"In emergency medicine, the golden hour is the period following traumatic injury being sustained by a casualty, during this hour there is the highest likelihood that prompt medical treatment will prevent death."
For heart related emergency's the early use of an AED can be key for preserving life.
More details
It is frustrating to know that AED technology is out there and publicly available and that many first aiders are trained in AED use.
I acknowledge and welcome this progress but it's difficult to get these two components together at the right place at the right time to make full use of the Golden Hour of patient care.
I ask parliament to vigorously consider the following:
1. Funding/grants so trained first aiders have their own AED.
2. A database of public AED's that can be added to mobile phone maps.
