Petition Urge the Norwegian Government to end the culling of wild wolves

Norway has announced that it plans to allow hunters to kill 47 wolves living in the wild, despite the species being listed as "critically endangered" on the 2015 Norwegian list of endangered animals. This represents the cull of up to two-thirds of the country's total wild wolf population.

More details

- Rovdata recorded a wolf population of between 65-68 in winter 2015-2016.
- Nina Jensen, the head of the Norwegian branch of the WWF has called the plans "outright mass slaughter".
- Illustrative datapoint: a 2010 study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture showed that out of 1.7 million cattle deaths that year, only 2.3 percent were caused by predators (of which many are attributed to dogs and other predator species).
- The UK considers itself as a leader in animal welfare standards.
