A recent Which? investigation showed that engineers failed to provide boiler servicing which is safe and meets minimum requirements for the job. Of the 6 'big companies' and 4 independent companies checked 70% failed to meet minimum legal requirements. The HSE need legal powers to be effective.

The Health & Safety Executive must be able to hold Gas Safe and it's engineers to account and ensure Gas Safe registered engineers:

1} are competent to complete a full, safe boiler service, with regular checks on performance

2} have a legal minimum boiler service time

3} complete a clear, detailed report

4} are held to account in the same way as other professions which potentially risk peoples lives

5} HSE should complete robust checks on standards of work & update the registration process.
