Petition Discourage "The X is dead" meme

More details

While freedom of speech is to be both encouraged and defended, the widespread and persistent use of the phrase "The X is dead", where X is an object, service, technology or something else, is usually highly speculative and often inaccurate. And always annoying. Academics, in particular, tweet it with tedious frequency. People from schoolchildren upwards should be educated and discouraged from using this unimaginative generalisation, unless in an irrefutable manner e.g. "The dodo is dead".
