Rejected petition Reverse sudden change to student finance eligibility

Towards the end of the academic year in 2016, the Government increased the time that a person had to be resident in the United Kingdom from three years to five, in order for them to be eligible to apply for student loans and grants.

More details

This change was sudden and was not explicitly advertised and as a consequence strips thousands of students of their opportunity to continue their education at the higher level. This is now the case despite the fact that they may have already achieved their GCSE and A level examinations in the United Kingdom.
