Petition Establish Fibromyalgia clinics to improve services for chronic pain in the Uk.
Fibromylgia is a chronic. syndrome affecting 1 in 20 of the population. Although it can be diagnosed easily by Rheumotologists, GP's in local surgeries are often unable to make a diagnosis, or provide the level of medical care and support which is necessary .
More details
Fibromyalgia is identified by pain in all 4 quadrants of the body, chronic fatigue and sleeping disorders. It is a complex condition involving many other symptoms from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, cognitive impairment, poor and poor co ordination to severe headaches ,Temporal Mandible Joint pain , and many others.
Providing clinics which run in a similar manner to diabetic clinics, would provide a higher standard of support for Fibromyalgia patients. These clinics are being trialled in some parts of the UK reducing trips to A and E departments, clinic waiting times and the number of visits to a variety of other clinics.
