Rejected petition Change sodium street lighting to LED lighting in order to lessen light pollution
Soidum lighting is commonplace in British towns and cities. These orange lights cause a large amount of light pollution and make it difficult for most of us to see a full starry sky [1]. A switch to Amber LED lighting would improve these conditions greatly and would also be more energy efficient [2]

- On the topic of Amber LED: In this case amber is the suggested colour as dimming the LEDs is the key in reducing light pollution emmisions, it also reduces blue-light exposure. http://darksky.org/lighting/led-practical-guide/
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The issue you raise is the responsibility of local councils, not of the UK Government or Parliament. You could start a new petition asking the Government to require all local councils in England to use LED bulbs in street lights.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
