Rejected petition To try and get FIFA to allow our football teams to wear the poppy in matches.
FIFA are saying that the poppy should not be allowed to be worn in the England Vs Scotland football match as it may cause offence and breaks their rules. The poppy is a sign of remembrance to those who fought for our freedom. It is a time of reflection and respect for many conflicts in the past.
More details
The poppy is something I feel very strongly about. It was introduced after the First World War and has now symbolised the sacrifices that our armed services have made. It is not a political symbol and I can`t see how it would cause any offence. I will be wearing my poppy with pride.
