There are so many people that can't get time off work for doctor's appointments due to their regular working weeks, example, 9-5 Monday to Friday. Opening the GP's for a couple of hours at the weekend will allow for those that struggle to arrange doctor's appointments without having to book holidays

I work as a healthcare assistant, Monday to Friday, if i didn't turn up to work their would be vulnerable adults left at risk, but I still need to look after my own health, if I get ill so do my clients. Why should I have to book holiday to see the doctor.
