Rejected petition Make it mandatory for Pregnant women to be swabbed to prevent Group B strep.
I told 4 midwives/consultant that i was a carrier of Strep B whilst I was pregnant & was told it wasn't an issue because I was given antibiotics in the past. At 3 weeks old my son had 3 seizure's & was admitted to hospital High dependency unit where it was discovered he had Group B strep meningitis.

He went through so much for
Such a little person. Lumber puncture, 3 failed long lines, cannula in his head, went under anaesthetic, MRI scans & ultra sounds. Then as a result of meningitis got fluid on his brain. I've ended up with "birth post traumatic stress disorder" having therapy after watching my baby going through something that could have been prevented if I had been listened to, swabbed during pregnancy & treated during labour. £25 for a swab is a small to price to pay when it can save a life.
