This petition calls on the UK Government to implement Article 9 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and to end the practice of children being sent away to boarding school in the UK. The only exemption being where a child is placed in a boarding school by a competent authority for the child's protection and or safety, subject to full care proceedings and regular reviews. There are currently over 70,000 children boarding in the UK with some 20,000 aged 13 or under.
