Rejected petition Fairly consider and represent the 48.11% of the UK electorate who voted Remain

Since 23rd June 2016, the UK Government has singularly failed to represent the views of 48.11% in its policy decisions. We demand that the extremely large minority voice is not summarily dismissed, and that the wishes of the 48.11%+ are no longer ignored by Government.

More details

16,141,241 UK citizens voted for Remain in the EU Referendum - 48.11% of the electoral turnout. 4,150,260 UK citizens requested a second referendum following the result - the highest number of signatures ever on a Parliamentary petition.

The slim majority result does not mean that the extremely large minority voice should be summarily ignored. The Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament states members must have a general duty to act in the interests of the nation as a whole.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
