Petition Drink in customers use of takeaway cups to be banned due to high waste volume

I work for one of the large chain high street coffee shops and I find it astounding how much waste is created in these establishments alone, the worst needless waste I have seen is customers requesting takeaway cups to sit in. This needs to stop or legislation brought in to discourage this.

Over 3 Billion disposable coffee cups are used every year in the UK with only 1% being recycled. It is becoming an issue which can not be ignored. I understand that asking people to not use takeaway cups and bring their own is unrealistic but stopping the use of takeaway cups for sit in customers would be a fantastic start towards ending the practice and the needless waste created.
