Petition Undertake a review of how Local Highway authorities apply speed limits in a haphazard and inconsistent manner

Near where I live there is a stretch of road about half a mile long which has three different speed limits on that stretch of road.

It goes from 30 mph to National speed limit and then changes to 40 mph limit.

I estimate that the stretch of road with the national speed limit is less than 400 yards. Surely it would be better to extend the 40 mph limit to where it meets the 30 mph zone.
