When you are a victim of domestic abuse, you want no contact with the other parent. However, if you ask to do the collect and pay which means no contact, the paying parent can choose to decline and decide to have direct pay, which means contact and they get your bank account details: control again.

The new Child Maintenance Service risks putting parents back into domestic abuse by making them give the other parent their bank account details. This also allows them to put any reference on the payment which shows on your bank account statements.
